Reliable method to fix cached Litespeed 404 error page on WordPress hosted site after removing or moving website to a new host.
Hosting a website is sometimes challenging especially if you are a
newbie in the space. Sometimes thing don’t work as expected when it comes to a
website that you hosted somewhere. Time comes when you are forced to move
website to another host which is big pain if you never done it before. Today I
am sharing how you can deal with Litespeed 404 error after moving or removing
your website on WordPress. The Litespeed Plugin is available on WordPress to
help speed up things by caching your pages for faster access. In this case the
problem arises after removing WordPress website which had the plugin activated.
In this situation we are talking about moving the entire website to
host it on Google Blogger platform. Note
that it can also happen even if you move to other hosts using WordPress. In
this case the Domain is left with the previous host and only content is moving
to Blogger. In this scenario, first we point
the domain to Blogger and only the subdomain
can be used. Note that you can’t use
the top level domain like example.com on Blogger, it rather be www.example.com or something.example.com. Also make sure
that the redirect to www.example.com option is turned ON.
So by typing only example.com or http or https://example.com won’t show the current website but the
Litespeed 404 error page. This is the actual problem we should experience but
going to www.example.com works fine and
display current website. Note that
those who use Adsense on the website will also have problem previewing the site
in the Ads section. This is because Adsense mostly use the top level domain as
the verified site to display Ads. Going back to our topic we look at how we can
fix this error because most users type the top level domain in their browsers
without www. The domain is supposed to redirect automatically to www.example.com so on but in this case it doesn’t.
So to fix this you need to go to your DNS configuration to perform some
actions. Since your website is hosted on Google Blogger and the domain in a
different host, that means the top level domain is not in action but the
subdomain www.example.com. To remove the
Litespeed 404 Error we have to remove the A
record of the top level domain then visit the top level domain on the
browser without www. Note that you
need to keep note of the IP Address
of that A Record because is still
required in next step. Then now Re-Add
the A Record of the top level domain
the way it was before removing it.
Now test your website by typing your domain example.com or http://example.com or https://example.com. All this should
automatically redirect to www.example.com and the Litespeed
404 error will disappear. Note:
Ensure that you test both on mobile and desktop browser to make sure it
redirect well on both platforms. Also make sure that the redirect is enabled in Blogger just below your custom domain.
Congratulation, I hope this will
fix Litespeed Cache 404 error on your website.
